What are we talking about when we discuss Security Management?
This would be defined as identifying an organization’s assets, which could be buildings, people, systems and information assets or machines. The next step after identifications of these things is to develop, document and implement policies and procedures to protect these assets. Security service providers are a critical point in the security service plan.
Understanding what procedures would be appropriate in protecting these assets include risk assessment, information classification, risk analysis and ranking system vulnerabilities. Security management duties would include ensuring physical security in real world situations. Protecting merchandise and products along with Clients, Employees, Visitors and Customers at a workplace. Other aspects can include implementing safe work behaviour and also ensuring building’s compliance in regards to health and safety, security and fire safety standards and regulations.
As well another important aspect of security management is access control, intruder detection and perimeter security protection. As well creating protocols for emergency situations for ease of access to contact police, fire departments or emergency health services in the advent of any emergencies. These protocols will make things run smoother and this is the responsibility of the security management.
Management would need to have security officers to enforce policies and procedures. So, this would include hiring, training and deploying officers to the site where they can be most effective. This kind of responsibility falls on security management and vetting potential security guards for professionalism, confidentiality and integrity. A security manager will also evaluate the property to see the best way to protect the people and the property. Where are the vulnerable spots? What should security officers focus on the most; for the overall safety of the site? These are the types of issues that security management can look at to create the best plan for a client. A security manager would need to create a budget and arrange for hiring of staff. This includes the physical security guards who will be deployed in the field.
Security management have the responsibility to create a security guide for the guards or arrange to have it done. This would include all the major functions on the property. Rules and regulations for the officers to follow. Protocols for emergencies such as fire alarms, security breaches such as break ins, elevator malfunctions, access card reader failures, bomb threats, protests or trespassers on the property. Having a list of emergency contacts available to the guard is also part of this plan. The guard should also be able to find in the security manual; all the important parts of the property such as emergency generators, chiller rooms, boiler rooms & mechanical rooms etc.
Security Management needs to understand the client goals and a plan will be based on these needs. RedMark Security is a leader in creating security plans and serving their clients for the utmost success.
