You are also in a professional setting which will teach you about acting in a professional way with clients, so you learn customer service. This can be invaluable as you grow in your career.
Mall Security: In a retail setting you can learn about customer service, loss prevention and once again teamwork as you more likely will be working within a team. Enforcing rules and regulations can help you learn while working and could be good for you, if you plan to get into a career such as parking enforcement or bylaw officer.
Mobile Security: You will get used to being dispatched for calls. This is also a prime position for problem solving on the fly as things can be unpredictable and time isn’t always on your side.
There are many jobs forsecurity guards to look towards for a later stage in career and it’s a good start in case you wish to get the initial work experience. Security job could prepare you for several professions & some of them are:
Policing: Security career is usually recommended for those interested in policing. Security job will prepare you for policing due to the similarity of the roles and ways that you deal with people engaged in illegal activity.
Border Security: This job includes learning about access control, investigator eye and due diligence which can be learned by being a security guard first and your experience as a security officer can help you set apart from the crowd of other applicants who are applying to border security offer job.
Correctional Officer: Similar to policing, for correctional officer career also, security guard job is a great way to start.
Private Investigator: If you get to work as a Loss prevention security officer, you may also get the opportunity to become a private investigator as well, so it’s a major asset to move on towards this career option.
Security Management: Many companies promote from within, so this is a great way to move up. You could move from Security Guard to shift supervisor to site supervisor and then possibly get a chance to be an account manager.
